What is Online Craps?

Online craps is the computerized version of the casino game Craps. It uses a Random Number Generator to keep the outcome of every game fair for everyone who plays. Compared to other casino games, it's the least popular game played online. This is mainly because it's very hard to find craps available online.

Why Play Craps Online?

No matter what type of game you're playing, it's better online. When craps online finally make its way to Pennsylvania, you'll already have a list of reasons why to sign up and play!

  1. You can claim different bonuses and promotions offered by the online casino. Most often, you'll be rewarded after making a small deposit to the casino or sometimes just for signing up. You'll never see these types of bonuses at land-based venues!
  2. Convenience is a big advantage that online casinos have over brick and mortars. You don't have to worry about traveling, loud distractions, and a late-night out. As long as you have a strong WiFi signal, you can access online casinos 24/7 from anywhere inside the state.
  3. Instead of being rushed or yelled at by other players, enjoy a quiet, slow game of craps online. You can go at your own pace and take the time to learn the bets and strategies that come with it.

How Craps Online Works?

Rules

Online craps is played with the same rules as in the land-based casinos. The players, also known as the “shooters,” place bets on the two dice and what the sum will be once they are rolled.

  • Players start by placing their chips on the bet they would like to make. A minimum bet must be placed on either the pass line or the don’t pass line, by the shooter.
  • Players take turns rolling the dice after the shooter starts with a “come out roll.”
  • If the shooter rolls a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10, then that number becomes the point, and players who bet on the “Pass Line” want this number to repeat before a 7 is rolled. Players who bet on “Don’t Pass” want to see a 7 rolled before the point.
  • If a 7 or 11 is rolled, the “Pass Line” wins, and if a 2, 3, or 12 is rolled then the “Pass Line” loses.
  • If a 2 or a 3 is rolled, the “Don’t Pass” wins, and if a 7 or 11 is rolled then the “Don’t Pass” loses.
  • This goes on until the shooter loses, and players switch who the shooter is while continuing to place the minimum bet.

Types of Bets and Odds

Now that you know the basics of the exciting dice game, it's time to break down each bet.

A game of online craps has many different options for bet placements. Below is a list of the most popular types of bets in craps. It’s important to understand each bet, before playing for real money.

  • Pass Line Bets: This bet is considered to be the easiest in craps; if a player wagers on the pass line then they are hoping a 7 or 11 will be rolled during the come-out roll and have their money doubled.
  • Don’t Pass Bets: The bet opposite of Pass Line, those who wager on Don’t Pass will want the shooter to roll a 2, 3, or 12 causing them to crap out.
  • Come Bets: This bet is similar to a Pass Line and can be placed any time after a point has been made. A Come Bet is won if the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 and is lost if a 2, 3, or 12 is rolled by the shooter.
  • Don’t Come Bets: The opposite of a "Come Bet", but can also be placed after a point has been established. These bets win if the shooter rolls a 2 or a 3 and if another number is rolled then that becomes the point, in which case a 7 needs to be rolled for the "Don’t Come" to win the bet.
  • Odds Bets: This is a bet that can only be placed once all the other types of bets have been wagered on. If a player has placed a bet on a Pass or Come then they are “taking odds” and if the bet has been placed on Don’t Pass or Don’t Come then it is “laying odds.” An odd bet can be placed whenever the player chooses to do so and can be increased or decreased at any point in the game.

Online Craps Strategy

The best strategy to use in online craps, if you want to win money, would be to play safe. Think about placing your bets on Pass/Don't Pass and Come/Don't Come. Craps can seem like a difficult game to learn, but knowing the rules and types of bets will prove to be successful in the long run. The game already has a very low house edge, which means you don't have to do too much to win.

Is Online Craps legal in Philadelphia?

Craps is legal in Pennsylvania, but unfortunately hasn’t yet made it’s way to an online library. Since the game is one of the most social on the casino floor, it’s very hard to convey that excitement online. This is the main reason players will have a hard time finding craps available online.

Is Craps Online Rigged?

If you’re playing at a legal online casino, then you don’t have to worry about games being rigged. A Random Number Generator software is used by each site, which keeps the outcome of every game random. The penalty for rigging a game in Pennsylvania is severe, and not something operators would risk over a little bit of money.

Can you play Craps Online for Free?

There are free games of craps available online. Playing for free is the best way to learn a game online, before starting to deposit real money. In the case of online craps, players have the chance to get in some practice risk-free before casinos start to launch it.
